Victim of the General Slocum Disaster - age 25 years old, single, death cert # 3476 Bronx, lived at 142 3rd Avenue, HousekeeperVictim of the steamboat General Slocum disaster. Escorting three members from the Hauff family on a annual Sunday school picnic from St. Mark's Lutheran Church. While on the East River the steamboat carrying 1,342 people caught fire, burned, killing over 1,021. Two of the Hauff family were saved while the third member, Tillie Hauff, age 14 died. Katie was laid to rest at Moravian Cemetery, Staten Island on June 22, 1904.
