MISHAWAKA - Kenneth W. Beard, 80, of Mishawaka, passed away on Thursday, February 15 at Hospice House of St. Joseph County, after a brief illness, with his loving family by his side.

Mr. Beard was born in Caraway, AK on October 31, 1937 to the late Willie and Flossie (Hancock) Beard.

On March 18, 1960, in Mishawaka, Kenny married Anna L. McCaskill, who preceded him in death on October 29, 2010.

He was a self-employed contractor and owner of Continental Homes in Mishawaka.

Kenny is survived by his daughters, Beth A. (Rick) Berry and Kendra L. (David) Fleckner both of Mishawaka. Also surviving are his loving grandchildren, Rickey (Jodi) Berry, Brittany and Colton Fleckner; and a great-granddaughter, Grace, whom he loved and cherished. Kenny is survived by his sisters, Vera (James) Chamberlin of Michigan City and Frances Mize of Rolling Prairie; and his brother, Gerry Beard of Kansas City, KS. Also, a very close sister-in-law, Debbie McCaskill, who was like a daughter. He was also very close to several in-laws and all the McCaskill family. Kenny was preceded in death by his wife, parents, sister Euna Rector and brothers, Billy, Donald, and Eskiel Beard.

Mr. Beard was a devoted Christian man, who was loved dearly' by his family, his church family, and numerous friends whom he made during his life's journey. He loved being with his family on various outings, and always put his family above all.

Kenny served in the U.S. Marine Corps and served his country honorably during the Korean Conflict. He was proud to have served this great country.

Visitation for Mr. Beard will be on Monday, February 19, at New Life Baptist Church, 11593 East McKinley Highway, Osceola, IN from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Funeral Service will take place at the church, Tuesday, February 20 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Michael A. Cramer officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, IN.

The family requests memorial contributions be given to the New Life Baptist Church, 11593 East McKinley Highway, Osceola, IN 46561.
