Daughter of Susanna Jarvis and James Jarvis Hyde. Her mother died in 1836 and her father in 1844. Sarah Elizabeth was born in Norwich on April 24, 1817. She married Nathan Pratt on November 7, 1847. They had one child, Nathan Hyde Pratt, born August 31, 1848. Sarah died the following day, September 1, 1848, in Norwich.

Sarah E Hyde of Norwich, Connecticut, and Nathan Pratt of Weymouth, Massachusetts, were married on November 7, 1847. Following her death, Nathan Pratt married Julia S Carew of Norwich in 1852. (Vital Records of Norwich, 1913, II:882, 990.)
Her husband and child were living in Weymouth, Norfolk County, Massachusetts, with his parents, John L., 59, and Hannah Pratt, 58, in the 1850 federal census. After Nathan Pratt remarried, they continued to live in Weymouth. The son, Nathan Hyde Pratt, became a lawyer, was single, and lived with his parents. On his passport application, dated July 10, 1890, he gave his address as both Weymouth and Boston, Massachusetts. He was then 41 years old, 5'-5 1/2" tall, with blue eyes, and light hair and complexion. By 1900 he had been committed to the Danvers Insane Hospital in Danvers, Essex County, Massachusetts. He suffered from "chronic delusional insanity" for 10 years, and died of a cerebral hemorrhage in the Yarborough State Hospital, Weymouth, at age 58, on February 17, 1907.
