Alfred was the son of Petar Jelyenich & Mary Hikec (married 28 Nov. 1914 in Franklin Co. Ill.) After his father's death in 1918, his mother remarried 10 Nov. 1919 in Detroit Mi. to Milan Rubessa, so Alfred took his step-father's surname at that time. Alfred's younger brother was born Eugene Peter Yelyenich and later took the name Eugene Rubessa, aka Gene Rayburn (the well known Game Show Host).
