J D McPhail, 83, retired Royalton Miner, died Wednesday at 2:30pm at the home of his son, Pete, in Royalton after an illness of several years. McPhail formerly worked at the No. 7 Mine in Royalton. He was a member of Local Union 1395, United Mines Workers, the First Methodist Church of Royalton and Lodge 1047, A F & A M.

He had lived for 40 years in the Royalton vicinity except for two years when he lived at Benton.

His wife and a son, Lloyd, preceded him in death.

McPhails leaves six sons:
