Walter H. Errington, 75, a resident of Manchester, NH and a former resident of Windsor, VT, passed away at the Concord Hospital in Concord, NH. He was born August 12, 1942 in Providence, RI the son of Walter E. and Muriel (Link) Errington.

He received his schooling in East Providence and graduated from East Providence High School in 1960. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Vietnam War while stationed in Korea and Germany. Following his honorable discharge in 1968 he returned to Massachusetts where he was employed as a police officer with the town of Attleboro. He later graduated from Roger Williams University in Providence in 1977.

Walter married Betty Nelson in Woodstock, VT on June 5, 1992. He then served as a police officer for the town of Ludlow and Windsor, VT before becoming a Security Guard for the Vermont Department of Corrections in Windsor. He was also employed as a Case Worker, Councilor and Probation and Parole Officer. He retired in January 2006 after eighteen years of service. He was a former member of the Windsor American Legion Post #25 and a current member of the Sweeney American Legion Post #2 in Manchester, NH. He was an avid shooter and gun enthusiast, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Errington of Manchester, NH, three daughters, Denise Errington of Barre, VT, Peggy Leva of Lebanon, NH and Bonnie Soule of Manchester, NH, three sons, Michael Errington of Wales, MA, Kenneth Errington of Seekonk, MA and James Errington, two brothers, Timothy Errington of Riverside, RI and John Errington of Rutland, VT, ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 24 at 2:00 PM at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor. A reception for family and friends will follow at the Windsor Elks Lodge. Committal services will be held at a later date at the convenience of his family in the Ascutney Cemetery in Windsor. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post #25 at 4 Court Street, Windsor, VT 05089.
