Mr. Richard J. Mody, 62, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 6, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

Richard was born in Utica, June 4, 1946, a son of Abraham "Brownie" and Pasquelina "Patty" (Sanzone) Mody and was educated in local schools. He was a 1965 graduate of TR Proctor High School. He married the former Karen Carlson, who passed away in 2006. Richard began a career in the trucking business at M&M Trucking, later establishing ACU Transport, which became Copper City Transport.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and Tony Barres; his son, Richard "Rick" Mody; three grandchildren, Alexandrea, Anthony and Michael Barres, all of Utica; brothers, John and Rosemary Mody of Rome, David Mody and Joseph Mody, both of Hobart; and also many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends may call on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at The Matt Funeral Home. The Prayer of Incense and committal services will be held at the conclusion of callings hours, with Abouna Bassam Saade. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
