The son of Norman Henry Johnson and Nancy Naomi Hight. His death certificate lists him as T. Norman Johnston. He died of pulmonary tuberculosis in the William H. Maybury Sanatorium after a stay of one month and 10 days. His death certificate stated that he had had tuberculosis for 74 months (a little more than 6 years). He had married Roma M. Fowler around 1927, but was listed as single on his death certificate. He was a stone cutter, a trade which he probably learned from his step-father, Thomas Joseph Mahan, who was associated with several monument companies.
