Alex Mathew Cathers, age 23, passed away in Springfield, Missouri, where he was a student at Missouri State University. He was born September 11, 1993 at Ireland Army Hospital in Ft. Knox, Kentucky and departed this life on February 13, 2017.
Alex is survived by his mother and step-father, Dr. Alicia Walker and Dr. Bret Cormier of Springfield, MO; his father, David Cathers of Austin, Texas; his siblings: Mason Cathers and Avery Walker also of Springfield, MO; his maternal grandmother, Nancy Cox of Somerset, KY; his paternal grandmother, Sara Cathers, Lexington, KY; his paternal aunt, Kelly Nossokoff, Lexington, KY; two great-aunts: Sue Cox and Ann Hall; two great-uncles, Tom Cox (Vicki) and David Cox; and David Burke and George Gentry.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Shumate Funeral Home Chapel in Middlesboro, KY. Dustin Cox will deliver the eulogy.
