John Randall Bailey, Sr., 69, passed away at his home in Beach City, Texas on March 27, 2016. John was born on August 21, 1946 in Nacogdoches, Texas to Oran and Auline Lowery Bailey.

John grew up in Port Neches, Texas and attended Port Neches Groves High School. After graduation, he went on to attend Lamar University. After graduating from Lamar with a degree in Criminal Justice, he went to work for the Texas Department of Public Safety where he served as a State Trooper for 28 years.

Upon his retirement in 1996, John became very involved with the breeding and showing of Great Danes. He was extremely loyal to the breed and cherished the friendships he made with other Great Dane breeders.

Preceding him in death were his parents and his brother, George Bailey. John is survived by his sons; John R. Bailey, Jr. and wife Kelli, Jason R. Bailey and wife Svetlana and four grandchildren; Ethan Bailey, Megan Bailey, Jacob Bailey and Daniel Bailey.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 31st from 5-8pm at Earthman Funeral Home on Garth Road in Baytown. Funeral services will also be held at Earthman Funeral Home on Friday, April 1st at 10am followed by a private burial. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made in John’s name to The Great Dane Club of America Charitable Trust.
