Yates City - Donald Kennelly, 71, passed away at 3:12 a.m. March 12, 2012, at his home after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
He was born June 9, 1940, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria, III., to Verne and Vivian Kennelly.
He married Linda McPherson on Dec. 27, 1969, in Aurora, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Lon (Lisa) Kennelly of Yates City and Darin (Charissa) Kennelly of Buckley, IIII.
He had seven grandchildren: Bailey, Katie, Maddie, Jason, Joe, Evie and Will.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Connie Simpson.
He served in the Illinois Air National Guard for six years and was a lifelong farmer in Yates City for 50 years.
He attended Oaks Community Church in Dahinda.
He was taken care of by Tammi and Angie of Harbor Lights Hospice for the last four years.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 15, 2012, at Oaks and Hines Funeral Home in Elmwood, where visitation will be held 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Pastor Marty Briney will officiate.
