John was born in Martinsville Indiana and raised in Wildcherry Arkansas.
He accomplished a lot with only a sixth grade education by working his way through College with the help of the Catholic Church.
He served in the Army from 1941 to 1945 in which he fought in WW II.
Afterwards he worked on a Custom Combing Crew,
which was how he met his wife Clara Maxine. They were married in 1949 in Oberlin Ks and moved around to various towns before settling in Norwich, Ks in 1959.
He was a hard working man, a Carpenter by trade with a smattering of various other skills. Raising 9 children was a challenge, but he provided everything to keep his family healthy and happy for the most part. Occasionally he would take his kids to the river and teach them how to fish. He also enjoyed hunting when he had time.
After he retired he especially enjoyed his gardening and would
often share his produce with his friends and Neighbors.
He was preceded in death by all four of his siblings, his daughter Terry Hill, granddaughter April Gray and grandson Blake Anthony Gray.
He is survived by his wife, C. Maxine Hill and children, Joe, Beth, Lois, Ruth, Patty, Doris, Eloise, Evelyn and John Jr., 19 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.
