Marion Thurman, Auburn, California, passed away at 93 years.
Marion is survived by son and daughter. A daughter, Mary Frances Thurman, preceded her. Two grandchildren, five great grand children, and six great, great children survive her.
Marion was also preceded in death by her parents Henry and Minnie Dalton and seven of her eight siblings.
In 1940 she married David Thurman. Dave's military career took the family to Japan, Alaska and a number of military bases along the Eastern Seaboard. Dave retired as a Lt. Col. from the army at Fort Bragg, N.C. Marion continued volunteering as she did during their many moves as Gray Lady, and in thrift shops.
The family moved back to their home base in California. After Dave retired from the State of California they moved to a home near Colfax that they purchased from Marion's mother. The large lawn was an ideal location for family gatherings. And it continued as a traditional stopping place for family traveling from the Bay Area to Reno. Marion's children would gather there during the holidays and grandchildren would spend time there with grandma and grandpa.
After Dave passed the property was too large for her to manage and Marion bought her final home in Auburn. She purchased a home under construction in Auburn and lived there. When Marion remarried to Noall Bybee, they lived in the home and traveled a lot. Marion purchased a property near the river in Mulege, Baja, Mexico. They spent a lot of winter vacation time there.
There will be a family burial at the Colfax Cemetery on a later date.
