Jane Coburn Mercer passed away on March 4, 2018. She was born in Portsmouth, Ohio to Frank and Elizabeth (Edna) Coburn on August 6, 1920, who predeceased her. Also, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank, Howard, and Robert Coburn.

She graduated from Miami University located in Oxford, Ohio, where she was Homecoming Queen and president of Delta Zeta Sorority. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Edwin Bailey who died as a pilot in service to his country. They had a son, James Bailey (Elena). She was preceded in death by her second husband, Ralph Dinsmore Mercer. They had three children, R. Clint Mercer, M. Karen Helms (Jim), and Linda Fralick (Fred). In addition, she was preceded in death by Everett Berg who was her partner for over 30 years. She was thankful to be a grandmother to Justin, James, Janie, Julie, Lori, Michelle, and a step-grandmother to Molly. She was very grateful to be a great-grandmother to Jenna, Luke, Caden, and Jax.

For over two decades, she taught business courses at Robert E. Lee High School, and then entered the career of real estate at Watson Realty. She found that to be passion. “Lady Jane” enjoyed every aspect of being a realtor from working with different managers, co-workers and clients. Over her life span, Jane had many friends, and these friends counted on her to listen, to help and to pray for them. She was raised in the Presbyterian Church and later transferred her membership to Lakewood United Methodist Church.

Her family wishes to say a heartfelt Thank You to Life Care, Brookdale, Mayo Clinic, and to her many friends who continued to visit her and to bring her joy faithfully. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to NE Florida Community Hospice.
