Mrs. Turner was born in Treutlen County to the late Mr. & Mrs. A.O. Barnes and she had lived in Meldrim since 1950. She was a member of the New Beulah Methodist Church in Metter and attended the Meldrim Baptist Church. Mrs. Turner was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Turner, Jr. and she was a homemaker. She was an avid gardener who could make anything grow, she was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Turner wrote songs and poetry and she was a musician.
Survivors include her children, June Rigdon (Gary) Cooper of Metter, Joyce (Danny) Weathers of Meldrim, Lynn Turner of Effingham County, Grayson (Angie) Turner of Guyton, Clayton (Anissa) Turner of Newington and Penny (George) Rowan of Guyton; sisters, Claudine Westbury of Swansee, SC, Edna Mongin of Rincon and Bobbie Jean Waters of Metter; brothers, Ralph Barnes, Sr. of Savannah and Johnny Barnes, Sr. of Savannah; twelve grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Meldrim Baptist Church. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
