Thomas E. Andrews, retired Marion Power Shovel Company metallurgist and prominent Catholic layman, was dead on arrival at General Hospital in Marion at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 1971. He was 66 years old.

A heart patient, Mr. Andrews had been stricken ill recently but was dismissed from the hospital after a short stay. He lived at 1315 Sunset Road.

Employed by the power shovel firm for more than 40 years, he had been president of its 25 Year Club in 1960. He had been a member of the Marion Foremen's Club now the Marion Industrial Club. Past chairman of the Northwest Deanery of the Catholic Columbus Diocese, he held the office several years and was active in Knights of Columbus on local and state levels.

Born in Marion on July 18, 1904 to Charles and Ella Andrews, he married the former Mary Alice Amann on July 12, 1930. She survives him, along with a son, Charles Andrews of Oregon City, Oregon; two daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Mimi) Millisor of Marion and Mrs. Dennis (Dotti) Kessen of Cincinnati; 10 grandchildren. A brother preceded him in death.

Services in St. Mary Church with burial in there.
