On Thursday morning at 6 o’clock John C. Abel, aged 75 years, passed quietly away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Will Seeforth, 213 West Decatur.

The cause of his death is assigned to general decrepitude. The wife of the deceased died seven years ago. He is survived by three sons and four daughters; Tony Abel of Bloomington, Frank Abel of Decatur, Leo Abel of Chicago, Mrs. Will Seeforth, Mrs. Brooks Ferguson, Miss Mary Abel of Decatur, and Mrs. Charles McShayne of Chicago.

Mr. Abel was born in Fulda, state of Huhl Hessen, Germany. For the past twenty years he has been a resident of Decatur, following his trade as a tailor. With the exception of the Tailors’ union and St. Jacob’s Aid society of the German Catholic church, he belonged to no organizations. The interment will take place at Calvary cemetery, Rev. Father Teppe officiating. Pending the arrival of relatives from out of town the date of the services will not be announced.
