Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. Served in the Civil War as a Sergeant in Company G, 37th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He was awarded the CMOH for his bravery at the Battle of Ezra Church, Georgia on July 28, 1864. His citation reads "At great hazard of his life he saved his commanding officer, then badly wounded, from capture". His Medal was awarded to him on May 10, 1894.
