Funeral service will be on Monday, March 19th at 11:00 a.m. at Akkerman-Ingebrand Funeral Home with Rev. Bob DeYoung officiating.
Visitation will be on Sunday, March 18th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home; plus one hour prior to the funeral on Monday.
Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.
Darlene Long, of Sartell, formerly of Mora, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at her home. She was 94 years old.
Darlene was born on December 21, 1923 in Mora, Minnesota to parents Ralph and Florence (Faylor) Ammerman.
Darlene and Verley were married in Black River Falls, Wisconsin in 1941, and were married for 66 years and 9 months. They went to California on their honeymoon and ended up staying for one year. They moved back to Minneapolis and had six children; Carol, Michael, Bonnie, Linda, Roxane, and Larry. Darlene was a stay at home mom to care for her children.
After the first four children moved out on their own, Darlene and Verley made the move to Isanti, MN. Roxane and Larry attended Isanti-Cambridge High School. Darlene began working at the Cambridge State Hospital at the age of 42. She worked there for 20 years before retiring in 1986. Once Roxane and Larry finished high school, they moved back to Brook Park, MN for a couple years and then back to Cambridge, MN where they resided in Pine Village. This is where they lived when Verley passed away in 2008. They loved to go camping and fishing together, and Darlene loved to cook.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband Verley, daughter Bonnie, brothers and sisters Clarence, Ginger, Dwight, Jack, Pat, and Bernie.
She is survived by her children; Carol Steiner, Michel (Nancy) Long, Linda (Kermit) Grafenstein, Roxane (Kevin) Vollmer and Larry (Caroline) Long; brother, Virgil (Jo) Ammerman; fourteen grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren.
