From Story County Watchman November 3, 1899

DIED--Monday afternoon James Doyle died at his residence in this city after a lingering illness. Mr. Doyle was a native of Maryland where he spent the early years of his life going west to Colorado at an early day. While there the war of the rebellion broke out and he enlisted in Company I 1st Colorado cavalry in which he served during the war. At the close of the war he came to this county where he has since resided. He was married to Miss Maggie O'Donnell whom he leaves to mourn his loss together with three children two girls and one boy. The last rites were held at the Catholic church in this city under the ministration of father Nichols, and the remains were laid in the Catholic cemetery to await the last call. The family have the sympathy of the entire community in this their hour of affliction.
