On March 14, 1940, the Russell Record newspaper reported that Mr. and Mrs. John Q. Cooper, who have lived in Russell County for more than half a century, will celebrate the 60th anniversary of their marriage at their home east of Luray, on March 23, 1940.
JQ and Lydia were the parents of ten children, three sons and seven daughters. All ten of their children were buried near their parents in Lot 7, Lucas Cemetery near Lucas, Kansas.
