Daniel Edward Mumper (6: Edward L. - Michael - Heinrich), who until [his death] was the oldest living member of the Mumper family, died in his sleep 16 December 1989, just 13 days before his 99th birthday. Daniel Edward was born 29 December 1890, in New Germantown, Perry County, PA, the son of Edward L. and Louisa Mary (Flickinger) Mumper. Mr. Mumper's mother died when he was 16 months old, and he and his elder sister, Adelia Gertrude, went to live with their maternal aunt. When he was 12 Daniel's uncle became seriously ill, so young Daniel took over management of the farm but continued to attend school.

Daniel Edward Mumper married Zora Elizabeth Trostle, the daughter of Emert and Mary (Fry) Trostle on 6 September 1916 at Mt Holly Springs, Cumberland County, PA. They had two sons - Lionel Andrew, [late] of Lehigh Acres, FL, and Dale Warren, four grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren [as of 1990].

In 1918 Mr. and Mrs. Mumper moved to Elizabethtown, Lancaster County, PA, where they founded Mumper's Dairy, a milk processing company that produced both wholesale and home-delivered dairy products. They operated the business until 1950, their sons taking over at that point.

Daniel Edward Mumper was a member of the Mount Calvary Church in Elizabethtown and was a member of the Elizabethtown Rotary Club for more than 50 years. Louise (Bricker) Mumper [wrote] that it was a privilege to know her father-in-law. "He was a very quiet man who had a hard life. He was liked by all who knew him and he was a real gentleman."
