Mrs. Claudia J. Tolejko, 53, 402 Ridgecrest Drive, Elizabethton died Wednesday, August 16, 2006 in Vanderbilt University Hospital, Nashville, TN following an extended illness. A native of Fort Lee, Virginia she was the daughter of Ruby Wilson Sheppard, Stoney Creek Community, Elizabethton and the late Hilliard Garland Sheppard. She was an avid fisherman, enjoyed traveling and was a member of an acappella singing group. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and had a deep personal growth with God. Survivors in addition to her mother include her husband, John A. Tolejko, of the home; two daughters, Emily Spina, Portland, OR and Alicia Sawka, Black Canyon City, AZ; a son, Antonio Spina, Woodbridge, VA; three grandchildren, Brittany Sawka, Christopher Sawka and Zackary Sawka; one brother, William B. Sheppard, Elizabethton and four sisters, Brenda C. Rogers, Elizabethton, Lydia M. Turner, Elizabethton; Corzana Lynn Grindstaff, Stoney Creek Community, Elizabethton and Elizabeth A. Ahmad, Johnson City. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Mass of the Resurrection for Mrs. Claudia J. Tolejko will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Monday, August 21, 2006 in St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with Father Dennis Kress officiating. Music will be under the direction of Jeanie Walker, organist. The Knights of Columbus will serve as Honor Guard. Interment will follow in Mountain Home National Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be members of The Knights of Columbus.
