Mary Louise (Bitty) Orcutt Mason passed away on Friday, March 16, 2018. Bitty was a lifelong resident of Birmingham. She was born to Jack Walter Orcutt Sr. (1892-1957) and wife Mary Roberts Orcutt (1896-1979) in 1926.

Bitty was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jack Walter Orcutt Jr. (1929-1986) and husband Louis Golding Mason, Jr. (1922-2009).
Paternal Grandparents: Melvin Daloss Orcutt (1865-1927) of Pennsylvania and Carrie Evelyn Crabb Orcutt (1867-1930) of Ohio.
Maternal Grandparents: Rev. Solomon Wheat Roberts ( 1860-1916) and Marie "Mannie" Louise Boyd Roberts ( 1870-1954) of Eutah, Greene County, Alabama.

Bitty attended Lakeview Grade School and Ramsay High School. She graduated from Birmingham Southern College and was a member of Alpha Omega Pi sorority. During WWII, Bitty volunteered as a "blue lady" at the brand new University Hospital.

She often recounted the various duties she was assigned and the things she learned while caring for wounded soldiers. On June 6th, 1950, Bitty married Lou Mason. Their marriage lasted 59 years until Lou's death in 2009.

Bitty and Lou enjoyed travel, hiking and biking well into their 80's. Bitty was a member of the Antiquarian Society, the Past Finders, and the Queen of Spades Garden Club. Until the last years of her life, Bitty loved tennis and played every week.

Bitty is survived by daughter Cecile (Squealy) Louise Mason, sons Ross Orcutt Mason (Rebecca) and Louis (Boo) Boyd Mason (Nancy), niece Elizabeth Orcutt French (Steve) and nephew Jack Walter Orcutt, III. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Mary Louise Mason Hoffman (Tim), David Ross Mason, Alexander Boyd Mason (Rachel), Price Matthews Mason and William Louis Mason (Rebecca).
