Nannie Catherine Agee
September 30, 1937 - March 18, 2018 Mrs. Nannie Catherine Cates Agee, 80, became Parkinson’s free as she peacefully ascended into Heaven on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond.
She was the mother of Connie L. Agee and the widow of W. J. Agee (1931-2013), her beloved husband of 62 years. Nannie and Jay are now with the Lord in their Heavenly Home.
Born on September 30, 1937 in Richmond, Kentucky, Nannie was the daughter of the late Less Cates (1917-1983) and the late Jennie Cates (1920-1973).
Nannie was a true homemaker. She loved her home and took pride in her home. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for family and friends. She was a collector of dolls and antique glassware. In 1978, Nannie began her career as a cook for Kirksville Elementary School. She thoroughly enjoyed preparing good meals for students and staff, as well as working with her co-workers. She retired as cafeteria manager/cook in May 2000.
Leaving behind to mourn her passing and to remember her life are her daughter, Connie L. Agee; a sister, Joyce Davidson; a brother, Neal Cates and his wife Janice; sister-in-laws, Jane Hardwick and Ruth Joyce Roberts; brother in laws, Moss Agee, Jr., and Cark York; a very special friend, Carolyn Britt; aunts, nieces, nephews and many other extended family and friends; and her beloved cat, Princess.
Nannie was eager to be reunited with her parents, Less and Jennie Cates; her husband, Jay; her brother, Doug Cates (1943-2009); her sister, Wilma Dean Witt (1939-2010); and her beloved dog, Bo (1998-2011).
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, March 23, 2018 at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, W. Main St., with Rev. Shelby Cates and Bobby John Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Madison County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be after 10:00 AM Friday, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be: James Calico, Danny Cates, Wayne Davidson, Jasper Perkins, Michael Perkins, Dave Pruitt, James Reed and Kevin Robinson.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Carolyn Britt, Gordon Cotton, Marie Foster, Bobby John Harris, Donald Gene Howard, Rick and Linda Howard, Wilma Rhodus and Richard Ross.
