He had resided in Oriskany for 40 years. During the past eight years he had made his home in Utica.
He was twice married, his first wife, Emily L. Freeman having died in 1894.
On Jan. 16, 1896, he married Miss Clara Hall in Verona. She died three years ago.
He is survived by two sons, August and Orrin Merrill, both of Utica; a daughter, Miss Cornelia Merrill, who lives at home and a sister, Mrs. Hiram (Mary) Freeman of Utica.
