ANAWALT, Roger Age 97, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2017. Roger was born on September 12, 1919 in Aurora, Nebraska, the middle son of Fern and Glenn Anawalt. He was an Army veteran of World War II, with service in France, the Philippines, and Japan. Following his return from overseas he obtained a law degree from the University of Southern California and thereafter worked in the legal and corporate secretarial field in Bakersfield and San Francisco. His marriage to Adrienne Johnson in 1958 was followed by the birth of three children. In later life he developed a passion for running and completed 32 marathons, the last one being at the age of 72. Another interest was country and ballroom dancing, and he made many friends in that community. While working as a dance host on a cruise ship he met his second wife, Audrey, who is from South Africa. They were married a year later in 1996, when they settled in Santa Rosa. The following years were filled with many fascinating travels, quite a few of those in Africa. Roger was also an enthusiastic musician, playing the trombone and French horn in the New Horizons Band, where he formerly was a member since its inception. Roger was predeceased by his son Eric and is survived by his loving wife Audrey, daughter Robin, son Greg, step-son Clifford and grandchildren Paige and Jack. Roger, a true gentleman, loved his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Services will be Monday, February 13 at 11:00 a.m. at Windsor-Healdsburg Mortuary, 9660 Old Redwood Highway, Windsor. Friends are invited to gather at 5545 Corbett Circle afterwards.
