She was born on November 25, 1934, in Gerty, Oklahoma, to John and Tennie (Bain) Ingram. A graduate of Holdenville High School, she attended one semester at East Central University in Ada and then met the love of her life. She married Bob Allen on November 26, 1954, in Holdenville, Oklahoma.
From the time she was a child, Wilma was a hard worker. She began working at a laundromat in grade school, taking a job at the local drug store in high school. Later, she helped support her young family by babysitting and doing ironing, and her life changed when she started working at McRees Clothing. She learned everything she needed to know about running a business and eventually bought the store, renaming it Wilma’s Clothing. She ran the store for more than 30 years and became a civic leader, named 2012 Tuttle Co-Citizen of the Year along with her husband, Bob, for their active role in the community.
She raised her children in church and was a member of First Baptist Church of Tuttle.
She loved watching sports, from her grandchildren’s games to her Tuttle teams to the Thunder.
Left to honor Wilma and remember her love are her husband Bob, her son Gary Allen and his wife Jamey, and her daughter Connie Henderson and her husband Carlin. She is survived by eight grandchildren: Jaclyn Allen, Robyn Cates, Lori Walke, Pamela Duncan, Stacie Schleis, Tracie Hash, Alyssa Robertson and Lane Henderson, and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, her brother Johnny Ingram, her sister Delphine Ledford and her beloved grandson Justin Hinkle.
Wilma’s indomitable spirit has long been an inspiration to her family and friends, and her legacy of grit and love will live on in our hearts forever.
