MADISON- Ruth Mather, age 94, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2018. She was born to George Henry and Kathrine Ries on April 17, 1923 in Daggett, MI, the 7th of 16 children. She married her one and only love Daryl (Doc) Mather in 1946 and moved to Madison to start a family.

Ruth's strong German Heritage placed value on hard work and she had a long career at the University of Wisconsin. Soon after her retirement in 1988 she remained working, starting her own house cleaning business. Ruth and Doc loved to get dressed up and go dancing each week following the sweet sounds of Jerry Stueber all throughout Madison. Ruth was feisty and always enjoyed a practical joke. She was nicknamed Rambo Mom when she downed a buck simply by shooting from the hip. She was always busy helping with the rentals, she was good with power tools and taking care of the house but she still had time to garden, bowl, join a sorority, take upholstery classes and make and decorate Ukrainian eggs.

Ruth is survived by her four children, five grandchildren and many great grandchildren and three sisters. She was proceeded in death by her husband Doc, his siblings and their spouses, and her own 12 siblings.
