Robert “Bob” Louis Fatheree, age 97, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Friday evening, March 23, 2018, at Flora Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

He was born February 24, 1921, in Xenia, the son of Jesse Hilliard Fatheree and Pansy S. (Dunnigan) Fatheree. Bob married Helen L. Sunderland in Macon on November 2, 1946, and have shared 71 wedding anniversaries together.

Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Army 179th Infantry Regiment, serving from 1942-1945 during World War II. He was a retired farmer and operated the 10-4 CB Shoppe. He collected and restored antique cars and tractors, and was especially proud of his work restoring a 1966 Fairlane GTA. Trap and target shooting were also activities he enjoyed. Bob was a lifetime member of Flora VFW Post 3999, and a member of NFO and NRA.

He is survived by his wife: Helen Fatheree; three children: Roger (Becky) Fatheree, Evelyn Isom (Gary Williams), and Paul (Anita) Fatheree; eight grandchildren: Shawn, Blaine, Derek, Sharon, Debby, Dena, Jennifer, and Ashley; seven great-grandchildren: Vivian, Hunter, Haley, Grant, Caden, Logan, and Addison; and a nephew: Wayne Fatheree.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother: Gerald W. Fatheree; and a son-in-law: Darrell Isom.

A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Public visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Powers Cemetery, Xenia, with military honors presented.

Memorial donations in Bob’s memory are suggested to the local chapter of the DAV (Disabled American Veterans).
