Services for Steele Armstrong, 76, of Greenville, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mt. Elem Baptist Church with Rev. William McDonald officiating. Burial will be in Grundy Memorial Park. Mr. Armstrong died Sunday in a Greenville nursing home.
She (sic) was born Nov. 29, 1911, in Jefferson to Jeff and Christine Armstrong. He married Gertrude Davis on Sept. 26 1936, in Jefferson. He was a Methodist.
Surviving are his wife; five sons, Freeman Armstrong and Odell Armstrong of Greenville; Cleveland Armstrong and J.D. Armstrong of Garland and Robert Armstrong of Andrew (sic); three daughters, Erma Armstrong, Mae Dell Armstrong and Dessie Armstrong of Greenville; two brothers, Porter D. Armstrong of Houston and M.Q. Armstrong of Dallas; six sisters, Gertrude Henderson, Earlie V. Police and Ida Stevenson of Dallas; Mrs. Jefrfery (sic) C. Wood and Gracie Sevenson (sic) of Ore City, and Elnora Rabb of Avenger; 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John Mack, V. Johnson, Lee Morris Harris, Robert McDonald, Dessie Brown, D McBride and Pat Brown. Grandson will be honorary pallbearers.
Grundy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
