THOMPSON, Lionel Stanley "Butch" - Passed away peacefully on Monday, April 9, 2007, at home. He was a member of Bayers Road Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the Second World War. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Born on November 25, 1918, he was a son of the late Anthony and Matilda Thompson. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Helen (Stevens); daughter, Heather Giffen, Belleville, Ont.; son, Barry (Janice), Charlottetown; grandchildren, Jason (Laurie) Giffen, Pam (Ian) McColl, Andrew Giffen and Jeffrey Thompson; great-grandchildren, Barry and Scott Giffen, and son-in-law, Allan Giffen. He was predeceased by his brother, Lawrence, and daughter, Bonita Janette in infancy. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St., Halifax. Funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Bayers Road Baptist Church, Halifax. Burial in Fairview Lawn Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind or charity of choice.
