HARTMAN
Virginia Kathleen Hartman, 92, of Tipton, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2009, at Tipton Oak Manor in Tipton, Mo. She was born January 31, 1917, in Jefferson City, Mo., the daughter of Charles G. and Alpha Carver Schmidt.
She was united in marriage June 3, 1947, in Tipton, Mo. to John E. Hartman. He preceded her in death on November 6, 1968.
On April 19, 1980, was united in marriage to Franklin L. Cornelius.
Virginia graduated from Tipton High School and Sedalia Business College. She was one of the original secretaries at CoMo Electric Cooperative in Tipton. During WWII, she worked for five years in the Pentagon in Washington D.C. in the war department for the Navy in the Lend Lease Program as a secretary. She was a homemaker, seamstress and later, worked for Weber Shoe Co. She was a member of Tipton United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: three sons, Charlie and wife Elaine of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Vernon of Columbia, Steve and wife Nancy of California, Mo.; five grandchildren, Eric Hartman of Wellington, Fla., Matthew Hartman of Cheyenne, Wyo., Kara Enyeart of Laramie, Wyo., Nicole and Robb Hartman of California, Mo.; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Geraldine Rodgers of Raytown, Mo.; and one brother, Charles L. Schmidt and wife Ruth of Tipton.
Visitation will be from 9:30-11 a.m. Friday, October 9, with services following at the Tipton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Parker officiating. Burial will be in St. Andrews Cemetery in Tipton.
Memorials are suggested to the Tipton United Methodist Church or the St. Andrews Cemetery Fund.
Arrangements are under the direction of Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Tipton.
