He is the son of the late Fred Winter Bates and the late Huella (Ables) Bates. He was employed as a Truck Driver. Mr. Bates was a member of First Baptist Church of Lucedale.
He is survived by one daughter; Karen Daley of Lucedale, MS and one son; David Bates; one sister; Linda Cochran; four grandchildren: Grandson, Kyle Daley; Grandson, Connor Daley; Grandson, Andrew Bates; granddaughter, Ally Bates; special friend, Phillip Carpenter.
Predeceased by his sister, Helen Croom, sister, Katherine Sharples, brother, Billy Bates, and brother, Leon Bates.
The funeral will be held 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Sigler Funeral Home, 4248 Main St. Lucedale, MS. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery, Lucedale.
