Horace served as a B-17 mechanic with the 473rd Sub-Depot, 486th Bomb Group (Heavy) in Sudbury, England during World War Two. Returning home after the war, he settled in Amarillo, Texas where he owned City Shoe Shops for 20 years then worked at Bell Helicopter as a Sr. Aircraft Mechanic.
Horace died of a sudden heart embolism at home in 1970. He was a loving husband, father and grand-father. All who knew him regarded him as a fine, decent and honest man.
Three children were born to this marriage, of which only one lived to be an adult. These were
Bobby Dale White (1946 - still living as of 2010)
