John Darius Wagner of Newton, a retired farmer, died Monday morning at the Olney Sanitarium in Olney of a heart ailment. Mr Wagner, who was 76 years old, had been ill since May. Mr. Wagner joined the Shiloh Christian church when a young man.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the First Christian church, with Rev. Inez D. Galbreath and Rev. L.E. Schmittler officiating. The body is at the Reese funeral home.
Mr. Wagner was born Dec. 20, 1871, a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Wagner. On June 24, 1894, he married Bertha Fear.
Surviving besides the wife are two daughters and a son, Mrs. Ira (Dorothy) May, Mrs. Earnest (Nora) Benefiel and Raymond Wagner of Newton; a nephew, Roscoe Olden of Kimundy, who was reared in the Wagner home; a brother Ed Wagner of Newton, a sister, Mrs. Cora Johnson of Robinson; 16 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Three brothers, three sisters and a great grandchild preceded him in death.
