Lonnie Jackson Akers, 71, South 14th Street, died Sunday, February 24, 1991. Graveside service at Forrest Cemetery 11 a.m. Tuesday with Collier-Butler Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. He was a native of Altoona and a resident of Etowah County most of his life. He was a veteran of World War II, U.S. Army Reconnaissance; retired Army National Guard; Major in Alabama State Defense Force; member of Gadsden Alliance Church. He is survived by his wife, Marguerite Akers; brothers, Marion and James W. and sister, Bettye. The body will remain at the funeral home until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gadsden Alliance Church.
