Betty Jo Abel, of Oklahoma City, passed away April 7, 2018, at the age of 88. She was born June 14, 1929, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Betty enjoyed dancing and listening to music. She LOVED shopping. She shopped everywhere and all over. Betty didn’t even have to buy anything at times, she just loved to look. She loved to go to Las Vegas. Betty was a huge cut-up and she loved giving people a hard time. She was a bartender and she loved her job and was a very hard-worker and when she could, she loved spending time with her family.
Betty is survived by 3 daughters, Barbara Ann DePriest, of Oklahoma City, Sherri Dearing, of Moore, and Angell Smithson & husband, David, of Alvin, Texas; 1 brother, Gary Lynn Abel, of Houston, Texas; 9 grandchildren, Colita Roush, of Oklahoma City, Vernon Smithson & wife, Tracy, of League City, Texas, Lelia Creach & husband, Brian, of Yukon, Julie McElroy & husband, Nick, of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Nicholas Smithson & wife, Shelly, of Santa Fe, Texas, Misty Dearing, of Oklahoma City, Mandy Jennings, of Moore, Kristana Stratton, of Alvin, Texas, and Ashlie Cunio, of Norman; 17 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Delbert Neff; mother, Josephine Reese; son, Steven Lopez; 2 brothers, Leon P. Neff and Robert Gene Neff; and 1 aunt, Elsie McQuaid.
Funeral Services for Betty will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at Crossroads Church, located at SE 89th & Shields, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, with Reverend Charles Barton officiating. Interment to follow at Norman I.O.O.F. Cemetery, in Norman, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home & Chapel, Moore, Oklahoma.
