The funeral service of Mrs. Melissa Henrietta Wright Allred, 87, widow of James N. Allred, was held at 2 p.m., Thursday in Ben Salem Presbyterian church in her home community of Caseyville.

Her pastor, Rev. A. W. Duck, of Wesson, officiated, assisted by Rev. W. H. McAtee, pastor of the Brookhaven Presbyterian church and Rev. Noel Ulmer, pastor of the Bethel Methodist church, Caseyville.

Interment followed in Ben Salem cemetery.

Mrs. Allred passed away Tuesday afternoon at her home in Caseyville after having been an invalid since December.

Mrs. Allred's many fine attributes of character and gracious personality received the tribute of admiration and friendship in the community of which she was a part, and elsewhere, where she was known.

With her son, Grafton Allred, and his family, Mrs. Allred occupied a home which was the modern successor to the picturesque old Allred home which burned within comparatively recent years.

Immediate survivors of Mrs. Allred are her sons, Grafton Allred, Caseyville and Simmie Allred of Abilene, Tex. The latter lately visited her, and hastened back to the family home at news of her passing.

Sharing the sorrow of Mrs. Allred's family is a niece of both Mr. and Mrs. Allred, Mrs. D. F. Westbrook of Brookhaven, the former Miss Susie Allred, who was reared in their home after the death of her own mother when she was 8 years of age.

Sympathy is extended those bereaved in the loss of a cherished mother, grandmother and relative.
