Minnie Lucille Stanley Walker of Jakes Run, departed this life, Tuesday, April 10, 2018, to be reunited with her heavenly Father.

She was born August 15, 1930 to the late Lloyd Stanley and Lucy Travis Stanley of Goose Creek near Fairmont.

Minnie was a graduate of East Fairmont High School, class of 1948 and started her working career at G. C. Murphy’s in the women’s dress department. She later worked at Westinghouse in the sealed beam division.

She is surviving by her loving husband of 61 years, Robert “Bob” Walker of Jakes Run, who faithfully and tirelessly cared for her during her extended illness. She is also survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy Ellen Facemire and husband Jeff of Fairmont and Joyce Ann Bennett and husband Rob of Jakes Run; one son and daughter-in-law, David Paul Walker and wife Tracy of Fairmont. She is survived by seven grandchildren, Andrew Facemire and wife Caroline of Apex, NC, Daniel Facemire of Ft. Collins, CO, Justin Bennett of Pittsburgh, PA, Emily Bennett of Pittsburgh, Jack Walker, Grace Walker, and Lucy Walker all of Fairmont. Minnie is survived by one brother Bill Stanley of Levels Road and three nephews, Bill and his wife Joann Stanley of Fairmont, Mark Stanley and Brian Stanley both of Levels Road; and two sisters-in-law, Ruby and Mary Walker both of Jakes Run. Minnie was preceded in death by a special nephew, Douglas Grant Stanley and two sisters-in-law, Neva Ruth Walker and Marilyn Stanley.

Minnie was a kind and caring woman who devoted her life to her family and her church, Jakes Run Assembly of God, where she was a member for over 60 years. Her family was in deed her life. Minnie was a master gardener and gifted seamstress. She began sewing her own clothes at age 12. She was known for the many beautiful garments she made, evening gowns, bridal gowns, men’s suits, and clothes for her children. She was an Avon representative for nearly 30 and enjoyed her visits with neighbors and friends. She was widely known for her fresh green beans, gallons of iced tea, salt rising bread, and her hot dog sauce. Ice cream, reading and enjoying music were a few of her great joys in life. She was especially proud that all of her children and grandchildren were musicians. She so loved the children from church and the community and was known to all as “Mom Minnie”.

Before becoming ill, Minnie enjoyed traveling on vacation with family to Ocean City, New Jersey, and Willow Valley in Lancaster, PA.

Special thanks to the many kind and loving caregivers throughout Minnie’s illness.

Friends will be received Thursday, April 12, 2018 from 1 to 8:00 PM at the Jakes Run Assembly of God Church. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 13, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the church with her son-in-law, Pastor Rob Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Luke Cemetery at Mooresville.

The Owen-Neely Funeral Home in Blacksville is in charge of arrangements.
