Bruce Abel, age 84 of Cottondale, went home to be with the Lord on April 8, 2018 at Marianna Health and Rehabilitation Center in Marianna, Florida.
Bruce was born on January 26, 1934 in Prince William County, Virginia to Bruce Emory and Bertha Mae (Jones) Abel Sr. He had lived in the Florida panhandle for the previous 20 years since moving from Iowa. He served in the United States Army and was a Korean War Veteran. Mr. Abel was formerly employed by the State of Iowa Department of Corrections, and had been the Pastor at Oak Grove Church for the past 6 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Bruce and Bertha Abel Sr.; two brothers: James Marion Abel and Verne Abel; two sisters: Gloria Adams and Mildred Abel.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mildred Abel of Cottondale, Florida; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held 11A.M. Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Obert Funeral Home in Chipley, Florida with Rev. James Harrell and Bro. Jerry Corbin officiating. Interment was held in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Cottondale, Florida. Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida directing.
