Dr. Bob Barcus Andrews, 91, died on April 11, 2018. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Kim Andrews Harsey (Renae Elam) of Mooresville, NC; his daughter-in-law, Cindy Andrews of Bath, NC; his brother, Allen Andrews of Boner Springs, KS; 5 grandchildren, Richard Lewis Andrews, Jr. (Austin) of Bath, NC; Elizabeth Andrews Preyer (Britt) of Greensboro, NC; Margaret Andrews Schwartz (Jason) of New Haven, CT; Matthew Troy Harsey of Mooresville, NC; and Andrew Jordan Harsey (Andi) of Franklin, NC; his sisters-in-law, Carolyn Lane of Denver, CO; Connie Yunghans of Leavenworth, KS; and Susan Hoffman of Hampstead, NC; and seven great-grandchildren.

Dr. Andrews was preceded in death by his parents, Winfred and Mattie Ellen Barcus Andrews; his wife, Mary Louise Stanley Andrews, his brother, David Andrews, and his son, Richard Lewis Andrews.

An Army veteran, Dr. Andrews was honorably discharged with the rank of First Lieutenant in 1961. He came to Lumberton with his wife and two young children in 1956, where he worked as the pathologist at Southeastern Regional Medical Center until he retired in 1997. Dr. Andrews was known in the community as a great humanitarian and philanthropist, and was the first recipient of the Dr. Bob B. Andrews Friends of Philanthropy Award, created in his honor. He also served as a president of Robeson County Medical Society, the North Carolina Medical Society, and the North Carolina Society of Pathologists. He was also a former chairman for the Southeastern Regional Medical Center Foundation. Additionally, he and his late wife were involved with the Robeson Little Theater where he served as president, actor and director. Finally, he was involved with the Friends of the Library in Robeson County.

Dr. Andrews was an honorable man, well-loved, as he touched many lives in the Robeson County community throughout the years.

Visitation will be at Floyd’s Mortuary and Crematory on Friday, April 13, 2018 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. The funeral will be held at the First Baptist Church in Lumberton on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends at 402 Barker Ten Mile Road, Lumberton, NC, beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
