VALDOSTA -- Cecil M. Pitts, 88, of Valdosta, died Tuesday, June 14, 2005, at his residence. He was born in Crisp County, Ga., on Oct. 15, 1916, to the late Andy H. and Clifford Story Pitts. Mr. Pitts was a retired district manager for Winn Dixie, was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, was treasurer of the Scrap Iron Sunday School Class, was a member of the Rotary Club, former president of the Whitewater Fishing and Hunting Club and a member of the Norwood Coffee Club.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Little Pitts of Valdosta; one daughter, Barbara Baudo of Marietta; one granddaughter, Nicole Shuey of Acworth; two great-grandsons, Blake and Tyler Shuey of Acworth; three sisters-in-law, Voncile Green of Moultrie, Helen Southwell of Palatka, Fla., and Miriam Pitts of Deland, Fla.; many nieces and nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 16, 2005, in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Phil West and the Rev. Mac Weaver officiating.

Burial will follow in Omega Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. this evening at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to First Baptist Church or to United Hospice.
