Mass of Christian Burial for Donald A. Mitchell, 69, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. He will have full military honors.
Mr. Mitchell died Friday, Dec. 2, 2005, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Sept. 14, 1936, in Lawrence, the son of Samuel and Sarah Patterson Mitchell.
Mr. Mitchell served in the Navy for 30 years and retired in 1985 when he returned to Lawrence. He later worked as a manufacturing attendant at Quaker Oats and in the Heinz Pet Food division.
He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Mr. Mitchell married Sharon Brown on Dec. 6, 1969, in Lawrence. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Donald Jr., Canton, Mich.; five daughters, Maria Jackson, Amanda Mitchell and T'Nita Faatoalia, all of San Diego, Rebecca Mitchell, Lawrence, and Y'Sondra Mitchell, Topeka; two brothers, Kenneth and Robert, both of Lawrence; three sisters, Nadine Grant and Pearl Hamilton, both of Topeka, and Martha Hamm, Lawrence; and 18 grandchildren.
