James Rex Fair was born December 18, 1936 and died April 14, 2018 at home surrounded by the family he loved. Rex can best be described as an “All or Nothing” kind of man because he gave 100% to everything he did.

Rex grew up the 2nd of 5 children which included his brothers, Bobby C. Fair, Roy Fair, Billy G. Fair and his late sister, Barbara Fair LaCaze, born to Orie and Hazel Fair. He was reared on a farm and carried the lessons learned there into his adult life; lessons of hard work, honesty, and integrity. Rex only had two speeds, “wide-open and stop”. This began at an early age and brought success in everything he did, whether playing sports in high school and college, or business. Rex attended Louisiana Tech on a football scholarship, then transferred to Northwestern, where he graduated with a degree in business. Rex was a successful business man and went into business for himself at the age of 22. His career began in the electrical business and later transitioned into a thriving real estate business that focused primarily on commercial property. Later in life, he returned to service work in electricity and refrigeration and enjoyed a more simple approach to life.

Someone has said there are only three things that matter in life: family, faith, and friends, and Rex gave 100% to those things. He was a “fix it man” and his family never discovered anything he could not fix.

His greatest love was his family. He married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Shirley Cox in 1959, and they enjoyed 59 years together. He and Shirley had three children, Tanya Fair Marr and husband Carroll Marr of Fort Worth, TX, Darla Fair Webb and husband Mike Webb of Natchitoches, and the late James Rex Fair, Jr and his wife Brook Fair of Natchitoches.

Rex became “Pop” with the addition of grandchildren and adored all eight, believing they were the greatest people on the planet. His grandchildren are Michael Marr and wife Tressa of Rockwall, TX, Daniel Marr and wife Christina of Fort Worth, TX, John Marr and wife Jordan of Fort Worth, TX, Michael Webb of Fort Worth, TX, Dylan Webb of Natchitoches, Kaleigh Webb of Natchitoches, Jolee Fair, and Jadee Beth Fair, both of Natchitoches. He is also survived by 6 great grandchildren who provided immense joy: Maleiah, Elliana, Ryker, Abigail, Levi, and Emma Marr.

He was loved by all who knew him and will be missed greatly.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Burial will follow at American Cemetery of Natchitoches. The family will receive friends from 6 pm until 8 pm on Tuesday, April 17th at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home.
