Hugh Emerson Bellmon was born on August 5, 1924 to Leo Emerson and Edna (Back) Bellmon in Eddy, Oklahoma. Hugh passed away on April 9, 2018 in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Hugh attended Billings Schools and was inducted in the US Navy on May 1, 1943. He was very proud of his World War II service. He served on a Merchant Marine ship that transported petroleum to the aircraft carriers. As a member of the greatest generation he felt they left his country better for the next generation. He was especially proud to be an American.

He married the love of his life of 73 years, DonAne Waggoner on September 5, 1945. They lived on the family homestead from 1961-2001 and then moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma. He loved the land and his cattle. He also worked in the oil field for many years.

Hugh was a member of American Legion, and attended the Billings Christian Church as well as Sunnybrook Christian Church. His greatest achievement in life was his family whom he was very proud of and pleased to see all they have achieved. He was especially grateful for the years he spent with DonAne

Along with his wife, DonAne Bellmon, he is survived by his daughters, Marilyn and her husband JC Thomas, Deborah and her husband Bill Fuller, Donna and her husband Jay Thomas, Vicki and her husband Steve Goforth, Janet and her husband Terry Clyden, Kathy and her husband Freddie Robinson, Mary and her husband Gary Pugh, and Denise Barrett; his daughter-in-law, Peggy Bellmon; his two son’s, Kyle and his wife Donna Bellmon, and Jim and his wife Deb/Bertha Bellmon. He is also survived by 8 grandsons, 7 granddaughters, 24 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

He was preceeded in death by his parents, Leo Emerson and Edna (Back) Bellmon; his sisters, Charlotte Pitts and Jayne Buskuhl; one son, Michael Allen; 2 granddaughters, Missy and Angela Parrish; and one grandson, Jake Houser.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at the Billings Union Cemetery in Billings, Oklahoma. Following the graveside service, there will be a memorial service held at 2:00pm in Stillwater, Oklahoma at Sunnybrook Christian Church. Services have been entrusted to the care of Dugger Funeral Home.
