Mrs. Hern was a homemaker, and a former member of the Williams County Historical Society.
Born at Montpelier on Oct 31, 1914, she was the daughter of Josie E. (Reese) and Jacob W. Fifer. She was a 1932 graduate of Montpelier High School.
Her husband, John H. Hern preceded her in death in February 1992.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald T. (and wife, Jean) Best of Laguna Hills, Calif., and Joseph B. (Cathy) Hern of Montpelier: three grandchildren, David Best and Jennifer and Brian Hern: and a great-grandson, James D. Best.
Preceding her in death were a son, John N. Hern in 1946: a sister, Luella Zulch: a brother, Ovid Fifer: and two great-grandsons. Private services will be Wednesday at the Thompson Funeral Home in Montpelier with the Rev. Don Ramsey officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Montpelier.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to the Community Hospitals of Williams County Hospice or the Harborside Health Care of Northwestern Ohio activity fund.
