"Mr. Isaac N. Shepperd, 43, a World War veteran, died Tuesday at the Veterans' Hospital in Lexington after a brief illness. He was taken to the hospital last week after becoming ill with a stomach disorder. He developed pneumonia and died Tuesday. Mr. Shepperd was a native of Wayne County, and enlisted in the army from Wayne County at the outbreak of the World War. He was a member of the American Legion and had many friends throughout the county who regret to hear of his passing. He was a useful and highly respected citizen and will be greatly missed. The body was returned here Tuesday night, and funeral services will be held Thursday morning with burial taking place at the Tanner cemetery. Surviving are his wife and five children. Sympathy is extended members of the family in their bereavement."

"This community was saddened last week by the death of Mr. Ike Shepherd of near Woodstock. He was a brother of Mrs. Tom Cain. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. W.A. Reece at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Sympathy is extended to the family in their bereavement."
