Son of Nancy Gray and Welcome Ussery Almand.
Grandson of Nancy David and Thomas Almand.

Married Permelia Lorinda Thrower December 21, 1848 in Newton County Georgia. Daughter of Benjamin Thrower and Elizabeth Dial.

Permelia was born May 16, 1830. She never remarried. Died July 20, 1903 at the age of 73. She is buried in Oakland Cemetery, Atlanta Georgia.
Permelia applied for a Pension regarding her husband's death in 1890/91.

Note: The death date on James F. Almand's CSA marker is incorrect. James died 1865, not 1862.

Pension File:
While in service about the last of December 1861 - he was discharged from service by reason of losing his voice from the effect of Bronchitis. He continued to get worse until the 27th day of April 1865. He died from effect of disease contracted while in service.
He contracted pneumonia which effected his lungs and that was the cause of his death.
