Debbie Rae Gallipo, age 59, of Sioux Falls, passed away Friday, April 20, 2018 peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Debbie was born October 31,1958 at Fort Gordon, Georgia. Soon after, the family moved to Aberdeen, South Dakota.

Debbie was a very strong independent woman who loved her family with all of her heart. Her three grandchildren were the joy of her life and she loved every second she was able to spend with them.

She had a very solid faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She lived her life in response to Jesus's Great Commandment to love God and neighbor. She always focused on the best in people. Aside from her love for her family, her passion was serving others. She worked as a church secretary for many years and loved that work mainly because it allowed her to interact with so many people. She helped develop an annual Thanksgiving Day meal at Bethlehem Lutheran Church (Aberdeen, SD) for people who would normally spend that holiday alone. She was a Hospice Volunteer Coordinator at Lake Area Hospital in Watertown, SD and also served as a volunteer Hospice Chaplain for Sanford Hospice in Sioux Falls. Debbie volunteered for the Feeding South Dakota backpack program, The Banquet and many other organizations that serve people in need. She brought out the best in everyone she encountered.

Debbie is survived by her husband, two sons and their spouses, three grandchildren, her parents, two brothers and their spouses, one sister and her spouse, Mother-in-Law, five sister-in-laws and their spouses, one brother-in-law and his spouse, and numerous other relatives and friends.

Her family would like to thank Dr. Heidi McKean, Lung Navigator Carole Chell, and the entire team at the Avera Cancer Institute where she received excellent medical care and was always treated with dignity, respect and compassion. We would also like to thank everyone who touched her life with your cards, letters, flowers, visits, prayers and love. Thank you to Avera Hospice who provided wonderful end of life care for Debbie and her family.

Visitation with family present will be held Monday, April 23rd from 5pm to 7pm at Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 24th at 3pm at Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church, 2208 W La Quinta St, Sioux Falls, SD. A memorial service will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Aberdeen, SD on a date to be determined.
